Black Country Touring's Bobby Tiwana (ResonAte Producer( and Francis Land (Co-Artistic director) report on BCT's venture into the world of online performances with their production of domestic drama Behna (Sisters). Written by Sonia Likhari, Behna is based in a Punjabi household the day before a family wedding.
Instead of a traditional performance space, Behna is held in the kitchen of a private home in the West Midlands, in front of a live audience of their guests; at the same time, this intimate production will be broadcast live across the world through a live webcast. Black Country Touring are encouraging home-based audiences to get dressed up, call a few friends round, and create their own Behna party by watching together.

Mudlark is a cross-platform production company - a partnership between a games company, a TV company and a web company - who produce mobile phone games, ARGS, virtual world experiences, television programmes, digital arts adventures and social network narratives. They're currently developing locative multiplayer games for the iPhone and working with the Royal Shakespeare Company on an exciting new platform to explore Shakespeare’s place in a culture of cross-platform media consumption.

The HerbertThe Media team from Coventry's acclaimed The Herbert Art Gallery describe how technology will enable personalisation of the visitor experience.

Young Disciples talk about their experience of engaging with young people through technology and music.

Arts-Sense discuss the Art Speaking project. Art-Sense works to improve and promote access to art for visually impaired people. It does so by working with galleries to develop equality of access to buildings, exhibitions and collections. Art-Sense offers training in visual impairment awareness; consultancy for galleries to enable them to enhance access to art for visually impaired people; and workshops for visually impaired people to make art.

DShed's The Extended Theatre Experience, which was an innovative experiment that explored and developed new approaches to the capture and distribution of a live performance event. Technologists from Hewlett-Packard Labs, digital media experts from Watershed, and theatre practitioners from Bristol Old Vic worked together to devise a short piece of theatre designed specifically for the experiment. Miniature cameras were embedded in the production design, sets and props, and the action of the piece was devised to test the technology’s capacity to capture the movement and immediacy of a live performance. Audiences reported an immersive, intimate and exciting experience.

Plus the Audiences Central team wil be on hand to discuss the benefits of digital tools Scene Central and Digivey.
